Handling slurry is cumbersome, costly, and, depending on your current dumping method, potentially harmful to the environment and could cost you fines and penalties! In our previous blog, we introduced you to the powers of BestSEP™ as a simple, cost-effective solution to separate slurry solids from water. This allows you to recycle the water, and easily handle the slurry solids without concern of environmental repercussions.
But what do you do with your slurry solids after you use BestSEP™ and remove the water? Do you dump the slurry solids out or recycle them for another job? We recommend using BestDRY™ to handle this task. BestDRY™ is a non-hazardous, super absorbent powder solution used to convert concrete slurry waste into a dry material that can be easily disposed of in landfills with no environmental implications.
We break down the benefits below:
Non-hazardous and environmentally friendly disposal
Incorrect dumping of concrete slurry may change the pH of the soil. This is bad for the soil and environment, and can actually get you in some regulatory hot water depending on where your job is taking place. Different localities and municipalities have rules and regulations that could mean that you may be fined or penalized for improper disposal. BestDRY™ neutralizes the pH of the water and concretes solids, allowing for dumping or recycling of the water, and making it possible for you to properly dispose of the slurry solids in landfills or otherwise. This also allows you to dispose of the water and solids in a normal landfill without the added costs of toxic waste dumping that can be added on
Once trapped, the high pH water will not be released back into the environment and heavy metals will not leach in the landfill. Therefore, using BestDRY™ on the separated slurry solids neutralizes them and makes them safe to dispose of.
Solidifies immediately reducing process time
Adding BestDRY™ completely dries your slurry solids in minutes for easy disposal. In fact, it can absorb 200-300 times its weight. This means that you can add 1-2 cups of BestDRY™ for each 5-10 gallons of slurry. The super absorbent polymer attacks the free water in the sludge and encapsulates it to enhance evaporation.
Save time and money
You no longer need to designate a team member (or two, depending on how heavy the slurry barrels are) to drive around with the slurry for two to four hours, looking for a safe place to dump it. Instead, handle it right on the job site or at your warehouse! How much money will that save you?
Disposal
Easily dispose of slurry waste into any waste receptacle or landfill (depending on local regulations). No more waiting around, double handling the slurry barrels, or worse, driving around, to find a proper disposal container! And no more added costs to dispose of toxic waste!
Solidified slurry will pass the Paint Filter Liquids Test (PFLT) and the Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) for heavy metals, allowing for compliant disposal into landfill. Likewise, because of this it will be safer for your employees to use it with only regular personal protective equipment recommended.
